Mom’s Goulash

This week we take the opportunity to cook one of the dishes that made us so happy when we were little , the classic macaroni with meat! A simple recipe to make but which will make everyone happy.

* Ingredients:

☞  1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
☞  1 3/4 cups macaroni, raw
☞  1 medium can (540 mL) diced parboiled tomatoes (Aylmer)
☞  2 garlic cloves, chopped
☞  1 onion, chopped
☞  1 tablespoon of paprika
☞  Salt and ground black pepper
☞  2 tablespoons of tomato paste
☞  2 tablespoons of soy sauce
☞  1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
☞  1 teaspoon of dried basil
☞  2 tablespoons of chili powder
☞  3 bay leaves
☞  2 1/4 cups of water

* Preparation:

Place a saucepan over medium-high heat and grill the ground beef. Drain off the excess fat.
Add the onions and garlic until translucent , about 4 minutes.
Pour in the water & tomatoes .
Add the paprika, chili powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, basil, bay leaf, pepper and salt. Stir.
Put the lid on and simmer sweetly  for 26 minutes.
Add the macaroni. Stir.
Replace the lid and simmer over low heat for an additional 20 minutes, until the noodles are al dente.
Serve with a piece of bread and butter, yum!
