Soup meals are very popular, and a most
comforting dish. This combines a meal soup and cabbage cigars!
* Ingredients:
° ¼ pound bacon
° 1 large onion, chopped
° 3 minced garlic cloves
° 1 pound of lean ground beef
° ½ pound of lean ground pork
° ¾ cup long grain rice
° 1 medium cabbage, chopped
° 1 28-ounce can diced tomatoes
° 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
° 4 cups of beef broth
° 1 ½ cup vegetable juice
° 1 teaspoon of paprika
° 1 teaspoon of thyme
° 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
° 1 bay leaf
° Salt and pepper to taste
° Parsley, to garnish
* Preparation:
In a large skillet, cook the bacon, then
remove it, retaining the fat. Then brown the onions, pork and beef.
Place the chopped cabbage in a slow cooker,
pour the onion and meat mixture over the cabbage, then add the remaining
ingredients.
Blend, covering and cooking about 7 hours
on “Low”.
Remove the bay leaf, add the bacon and
parsley and serve.
