KFC Biscuits

Wow, this was excellent!! I never make biscuits because they always seem so dry but not these! If you're looking for something cheesy, spicy, or otherwise flavored, Here it's in your hand.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable shortening
- 4 teaspoons Butter Flavor Crisco
- 1 cup buttermilk

1. Preheat oven to 400°F; In a large mixing bowl, combine together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, 4 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda then cut in shortenings until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
2. Stir in 1 cup buttermilk just until dough is very loose and sticky.
3. When finished, sprinkle flour over a large wooden board; turn dough onto a floured board and knead gently until no longer sticky, about 10 to 12 times and re-floure board as necessary while kneading.
4. Divide dough in half then gently pat or roll each half into an 8-inch circle 1/2-inch thick.
5. With a 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits, pressing straight down.
6. Then please reform scraps, working it as little as possible and continue cutting.
7. Use an ungreased baking sheet with edges barely touching and place on cut biscuits then brush tops of the biscuits with whole milk.
8. BAKE until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
9. Right after baking, brush biscuits with margarine (or butter).
