Homemade Turtle Candy With Pecans and Caramel – JUST 3 INGREDIENTS



You can prepare the turtles ahead of time and place them side by side in an airtight container, separating each layer with waxed paper. They will keep for up to 2 days in the refrigerator. Remove the turtles from the refrigerator about 10 minutes before eating them to allow the caramel to soften.


* Ingredients:


° 7 oz dark or bittersweet chocolate, chopped

° 2/3 cups pecans

° 12 small soft salted butter caramels


* Preparation :


1. In a heatproof bowl placed over a pot of hot but not boiling water, melt chocolate, stirring occasionally. Removing from heat and permit cool for 16 to 21 min . Meanwhile, place the pecans on a baking sheet and toast in a preheated 350 ° F (180 ° C) oven for about 5 minutes or until they release their aroma. Cut each pecan in half crosswise.


2. Using a spoon, pour 1 tbsp. (5 mL) melted chocolate on a parchment-lined baking sheet, forming a circle. Make 23 more circles in the same way. Place 5 pecan halves on each circle to form the 4 legs and the head.


3. Cut the caramels in half and flatten them slightly between your thumb and forefinger. Place half of the caramel in the center of each turtle. Cover the caramel with 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) melted chocolate.
